On May 8, 1885, The First National Bank of Anthony, Kansas received authority to organize. The charter for the new bank was issued on August 28th of that year.

The First National Bank is the oldest bank in Harper County and is the only bank, chartered in the county during the 1880's, that survived. Starting with only $50,000 that first year, the bank saw an increase in one short year of 100 percent.

Showing great wisdom and foresight seven men laid the foundation for a strong financial institution to be known as The First National Bank of Anthony. These were men who planned for the future, believing they were building a bank for all time. They were not wrong.
